Where We Play

The Richfield Ice Arena is a historic venue located just minutes from downtown Minneapolis. With seating surrounding the entire rink fans and players will be sharing in the NAHL game experience close up.

Facility

The Magicians will play out of Richfield Ice Arena in Richfield Minnesota. The Richfield Ice Arena offers a truly unique arena setting and seating for 1800.

Practice Ice

The Minnesota Magicians franchise will practice at Richfield Ice Arena from 2:30-4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Practice times allow for players to attend local college or high school.

Locker Room

The Minnesota Magicians will have their own dedicated locker room at Richfield Ice Arena. Plans are underway for facility renovations.

Where We Train

The Minnesota Magicians will train off the ice at LA Fitness while renovations to Richfield Ice Arena are completed. Once the Renovations are complete the team will have their own weight room in the rink to go along with their own dedicated locker room.

Our players billeting in Prior Lake will also receive memberships to Dakotah Sport and Fitness. In addition players will have the option to train at any Exceed Hockey Training Center in the Minneapolis/St Paul area.

Building the Magicians

The Minnesota Magicians will recruit locally as well as look for high end talent from across the country. Our team receives 10 tenders each year. A tender is an opportunity to sign players to your team for the following season. In our case we will be looking to sign players for the 2013-14 season this winter.  Our league also holds a draft in the spring. We will draft up to 20 players at that time. Then we take the 10 tendered players and our 20 draft picks to create our initial protected list.

We will have 2-3 open camps and a main camp between May and mid July. Players that perform well at any of the camps may be added to our protected list.  All players that have an opportunity to make the team will be invited back to our main camp. At the main camp we will select our team for the following season. It is important to note that all tendered and drafted players are not guaranteed a spot on the team. Any open camp or main camp player that performs well and fits in with the team will have the same opportunity as anyone else.

Billeting

All of our players will billet in the Prior Lake area. Prior Lake provides a small town feel for our players in a large metropolitan area. Many players will stay in homes on and around Prior Lake. They will enjoy summer activities on the water as well as winter fun on our frozen lake!
